Stamp in dates for entry into the Eden 1900 Art Gallery, 6355 E 1900 N, Eden, fifth annual Fall in Love with Ogden Valley Plein Air Painting Contest are announced as August 27 through September 18, 2021. The contest is open to all who are inspired to create original works “en plein air” within the Ogden Valley during competition dates. Works ideally would inspire good feelings for our beautiful valley in the viewer. Stamp in may include as many blank canvasses as desired with one entry fee. However, actual multiple contest entries require additional entry fees as described in the contest rules posted at eden1900.com/pleinair. First prize is $300. Works are sought in a variety of mediums from oil or watercolor to pastel, pen and ink, or charcoal, so long as they are created on location.
Paint-Out
Kick off for the contest will be a Paint-Out event at Eden 1900 for artists and shoppers on Saturday, August 28, 2021. During the Paint-Out day, artists are invited to create their Plein Air paintings based on views from anywhere on the grounds of the Eden 1900 Gallery. Artists may offer their works of this day in a wet paint sale to the public. Works created and sold on this one day may be sold directly by the artist without Gallery commission. Also, as a participant in the Paint-Out Day, artists will receive a 25% rebate on all of their entry fees for the 2021 Fall in Love with Ogden Valley Plein Air Painting Contest.
Photography Day
Eden 1900 has created the Fall in Love with Ogden Valley Photography Day Contest in order to include our talented local photographers in the Plein Air Contest. Photographers should enter the contest through our web page, Eden1900.com/PhotoDay. Images must be photographed between 4 PM on August 27th and 4 PM on August 28th. Images are to be submitted electronically and must be received before 7 PM on August 28th. Whether the photograph is modified or unmodified should be noted at submittal. There may be additional prizes in different categories. Prizes for this contest will be determined by the entry fees collected. The entry fee is $15 for the first photo, $10 for the second, and $5 each for subsequent entries. Entries are limited to no more than 10 entries per photographer. In addition to a cash prize, first, second, and third place winning photographs will be made into 8″ by 10″ metal prints for display/sale at Eden 1900 Art Gallery at Gallery expense. Contest entries will also be displayed electronically in the Gallery and on the Eden1900.com website through December 4th.
Note about Fall in Love with Ogden Valley Plein Air Painting and Photography Day Contest entries: As juried competitions, only works accepted by the juror will be exhibited.
