Are you looking to bring warmth, beauty, and a touch of sophistication into your home? Art not only enhances your living space but also creates a sense of connection and tranquility. If you’ve recently moved to the Ogden Valley or simply want to refresh your space with meaningful fine art, the Eden 1900 Art Gallery is ready to help.
Who or What is Eden 1900?
Founded in September 2017 by Kim Crittenden, Eden 1900 Art Gallery was born from a lifelong passion for art and a desire to bring a fine art presence to the Ogden Valley. With so many beautiful homes in the area, Kim recognized the need for equally beautiful artwork to fill them.
Since opening, the gallery has hosted several Fall in Love with Ogden Valley Plein Air painting contests, connected with many talented local artists, and welcomed countless visitors who appreciate having a place in the valley to view and purchase exceptional art. As the local art scene continues to grow, Eden 1900 is proud to help lead the way.
Now, in response to ongoing demand, the gallery is reopening for a limited engagement. Don’t miss this opportunity while we are featuring works by two of the area’s finest artists: David W. Jackson and Natalie Shupe.

Experience Fine Art Inspired by and Created for Ogden Valley
Come enjoy the exceptional scenery, atmosphere, and community of Ogden Valley—then bring that feeling home with fine art from Eden 1900. You’ll be glad you did!
Wow! What a year 2024 was. Over this past year I experienced some life changes, learned a lot, and had to do a lot of growing. Disappointingly, I discovered that the website revisions were not appearing online, and website visitors thought the gallery was open when, in fact, we were not for the whole year. I drafted, but apparently didn’t publish updates to the site months ago to show temporary closure. In a recent Internet test, I found those changes were not visible online. I apologize! I am so sorry for the miscommunication. Let’s do better in the new year!
What’s next for the new year?
Now that 2024 is in the rear view mirror, I’m looking ahead and making way for what the new year can bring to Eden 1900 Art Gallery. Some epiphanies recently struck me. First, let go of perfection, its unattainable. Next, don’t take setbacks personally. Most importantly, just focus on just doing what needs to be done, and I will feel a lot better. My emotions got the best of me last year, and things went south.
Moving ahead, I’m focusing energy to provide changes for a better customer experience. I’m also considering how to revise the art gallery business model. The physical art gallery needs some redesign along with how our artists show their works. Finally, marketing art gallery offerings to potential customers needs improved focus. I’m working on it.
There’s hope!
That being said, I have a place to start. Please be patient as I consider next steps and work to implement them. I still feel very strongly about providing a fine art experience for the public in Ogden Valley however quaint it might be. As a way to stay in touch, you can sign up to receive emails from Eden 1900. These will be sent for news of a reopening, upcoming events, or new art works coming to the gallery. Please sign up here.
Find other news and updates being shared regarding local artists on our Facebook page. Follow the Eden 1900 art gallery on Facebook at eden1900artgallery.
Still temporarily closed
While the new year is here, the art gallery needs to go through the previously mentioned transformations before it is ready to re-open. Please be patient.
Here’s to the new year ahead! May your wishes be fulfilled!

Feel good about art at Eden 1900 Art Gallery
Back in September of 2017, the Eden 1900 Art Gallery first opened its door with the goal of having an art presence in the Ogden Valley. Since then, the gallery has sponsored six Fall in Love with Ogden Valley Plein Air painting contests, we have become acquainted with some of our fabulous local artists, and we have met many people who appreciate having a place in the valley to see beautiful art.
Ogden Valley cannot be beat for its scenery and sense of peacefulness. The gallery tries to help you keep that feeling inside through art.
On Friday evening July 17 the Eden 1900 Art Gallery hosted an outdoor event with artist Stephen Henry, who created an oil painting before our very eyes. Even though it was a hot day, attendees were comfortable in the shade on the back patio and followed social distancing and mask wearing guidelines.
Artist Stephen Henry begins the demonstration.
The artist focused his effort on a mountain view as seen from the back patio of the facility. He talked first about preparing the canvas. Next he applied a light watercolor on the canvas as a reference. Stephen Henry began by applying a dark blue oil paint color for the background color of the mountains. He explained his color choice and his reasoning for using cool colors in the background. It wasn’t until he was applying the lighter colors that his painting started to have some definition between highlights and shadows on the mountains making them appear three dimensional. With the addition of the foreground hills and the clouds in the sky, his painting really started to take shape. The audience was simply amazed by his talent.

In order for everyone to see this very small painting, a television screen was set up on the patio. Stephen streamed close-up video of the painting and the actual color mixing on the pallet to the television so that everyone in the audience was able to see close up as he was mixing colors and painting.
Stephen Henry is a wonderful art instructor and artist. There were a couple of artists in the audience who mentioned later that they had each learned something new and helpful from his presentation.

In addition to the live oil painting demonstration held outdoors, participants had the opportunity to go inside the gallery in small groups along with the artist and to discuss any specific questions they had about his paintings. Stephen has on display 14 amazing paintings in watercolor or oil and one limited edition metal print made showing an additional one of his watercolor paintings.
The images accompanying this article do not do justice to his paintings. They really come alive when viewed in person. He creates beautiful compositions and has been known to make consignment pieces. Stephen’s works are currently on display and available for purchase at the Eden 1900 Art Gallery through August 2020.

People were happy to have an opportunity to get together outside with others following mask wearing and 6′ social distancing protocol. It was an open and inclusive environment. The guests had an opportunity to meet Photographer Sam Crump and hear his story accompanied by his on screen images, including lots of tips and techniques for getting great shots in a variety of conditions. Sam was happy to answer questions from the audience and offered to schedule a live, photo shoot, mentoring session for attendees sometime in the near future.

Ogden Valley 4460 was an opening night favorite.
After the presentation, guests had an opportunity to see Sam’s display inside the gallery in groups of four people at a time. People appreciated speaking directly with Sam about his metal and canvas prints which are on display inside the gallery. His photographic images are really special. Sam is extremely talented with composition and color. One couple knew they wanted one of Sam’s images at first sight and they arranged a purchase which was picked up the following morning. Other guests were interested in the mentoring session.
Though it was a hot day, the cold bottled water and shade were sufficient for guests to feel comfortable and conditions improved as the evening cooled down. Attendees were encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, snacks, and beverages to avoid spreading germs. Guests who signed in each received a free cookie and had the opportunity to win one of four greeting cards featuring Sam Crump photography or a CD by local musical talent and entertainer John Burrows.
Attendees gather to hear Sam Crump’s presentation.
Additional gallery-represented artists were also present, though they did not speak about their works at this event.
On Friday, July 17, the gallery will host another evening event from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. with Artist / Art Instructor Stephen Henry. Stephen will be doing a live, outdoor, oil painting demonstration. Sign up for this event via the Eden 1900 LLC event posting on Facebook or by texting the gallery on 801-745-2839.
