People were happy to have an opportunity to get together outside with others following mask wearing and 6′ social distancing protocol. It was an open and inclusive environment. The guests had an opportunity to meet Photographer Sam Crump and hear his story accompanied by his on screen images, including lots of tips and techniques for getting great shots in a variety of conditions. Sam was happy to answer questions from the audience and offered to schedule a live, photo shoot, mentoring session for attendees sometime in the near future.
After the presentation, guests had an opportunity to see Sam’s display inside the gallery in groups of four people at a time. People appreciated speaking directly with Sam about his metal and canvas prints which are on display inside the gallery. His photographic images are really special. Sam is extremely talented with composition and color. One couple knew they wanted one of Sam’s images at first sight and they arranged a purchase which was picked up the following morning. Other guests were interested in the mentoring session.
Though it was a hot day, the cold bottled water and shade were sufficient for guests to feel comfortable and conditions improved as the evening cooled down. Attendees were encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs, snacks, and beverages to avoid spreading germs. Guests who signed in each received a free cookie and had the opportunity to win one of four greeting cards featuring Sam Crump photography or a CD by local musical talent and entertainer John Burrows.
Additional gallery-represented artists were also present, though they did not speak about their works at this event.
On Friday, July 17, the gallery will host another evening event from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. with Artist / Art Instructor Stephen Henry. Stephen will be doing a live, outdoor, oil painting demonstration. Sign up for this event via the Eden 1900 LLC event posting on Facebook or by texting the gallery on 801-745-2839.
